David "Rain" Banta

Productions and Studios

David Banta is a multi-platinum, Billboard #1 recording engineer, pianist, arranger, and producer whose work has shaped the sound of some of the world’s biggest artists and entertainment brands. With 29 Billboard #1 credits for his mixing and numerous multi-platinum awards, David’s career spans decades at the highest levels of the music industry. What takes most mixing engineers days or even weeks takes David just hours — even when working with high-end analog gear.

As a music arranger, David creates original piano arrangements and sheet music for top companies including Disney, Pixar, Sony Music, Universal Music and Pictures, and Capitol Records. His work features hit songs for artists such as Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Dua Lipa, Justin Bieber, and Doja Cat. He also works with Sony Music and Epic Records in artist development.

David’s mixes have appeared on countless platinum-selling and Billboard #1 charting albums worldwide — including 2 triple and a double platinum for all of Europe, an 8× platinum in the U.K., a 5× platinum in Taiwan and Italy, 4× platinums in Denmark, and triple platinums in the U.K. and Ireland. His credits span genres, from R&B and hip-hop to pop, jazz, and orchestral works.

A highly trained musician with degrees in Music and Electronics, David studied full-time for a decade in New York City with some of the greatest musicians in the world. He is an accomplished pianist, orchestrator, and arranger, and spent many years as a full-time session and touring musician.

His mixing and engineering credits include work with legendary artists such as Tupac, Michael Jackson, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Luther Vandross, Tina Turner, Take That (featuring Robbie Williams), Sting, Mark “Marky Mark” Wahlberg, Eazy-E, Ice-T, The Roots, The Pharcyde, and Coolio. David has mixed and mastered over 50 songs released by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, many of which he also produced and/or recorded.

In addition to his studio work, David holds a B.S. in Music Education from The King’s College, New York, where he attended on a music performance scholarship. He taught recording engineering for 10 years at UCLA, as well as at Musicians Institute and Pinnacle College, and has also taught music from kindergarten through 12th grade in public schools.

David’s production and composition credits include music for NASCAR on Fox Sports — including the “NASCAR Highlights Theme” — as well as compositions for major network shows such as Jack and Jill (Warner Brothers) and Unsung (TV One). He also served as Senior Producer and on-air talent for a hit radio show broadcast on KPFK 90.7FM Los Angeles, 93.7FM San Diego, 98.7FM Santa Barbara, and 99.5FM Ridgecrest-China Lake — the most powerful FM station west of the Mississippi.
