David “Rain” Banta is a multi-platinum, Billboard #1 recording engineer, pianist, arranger, and producer whose work has helped define the sound of major artists and global entertainment brands. With 29 Billboard #1 credits and decades of experience inside world-class studios, David is known for delivering elite, label-ready results in hours—not weeks—while mixing through premium analog equipment.

As a music arranger and engraver, David creates official, publisher-approved sheet music for many of the world’s largest music companies, including Sony Music Publishing, Disney, Pixar, Universal Music Group, and Capitol Records. David’s engineering and mixing career spans countless platinum-selling and chart-topping releases across the U.S., U.K., Europe, Asia, and Australia, including 8× Platinum in the U.K., 5× Platinum in Taiwan and Italy, and multiple double- and triple-platinum awards throughout Europe. He has worked with legendary artists such as Bone Thugs-N-Harmony (50+ releases), Tupac, Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, Take That featuring Robbie Williams, Tina Turner, Ice-T, Eazy-E, The Roots, Mark Wahlberg, The Pharcyde, and Coolio.

A classically trained musician, David earned a B.S. in Music Education and spent 10 years studying full-time in New York City with some of the world’s most respected teachers. He is an accomplished pianist, orchestrator, and longtime session and touring musician.

David taught Recording Engineering at UCLA for 10 years, as well as at Musicians Institute and Pinnacle College, and has taught music in public schools K–12. He continues to mentor and privately train advanced producers, singers, and instrumentalists.

His production and composition credits include original music for NASCAR on Fox Sports, including the “NASCAR Highlights Theme,” along with work for major network and streaming projects such as Jack and Jill (Warner Bros.) and Unsung (TV One). He also served as Senior Producer and on-air talent for a hit radio show on KPFK 90.7 FM Los Angeles, syndicated across Southern California.
